Luss Tour

Thursday, February 07, 2008

This evening I am presenting some images of Luss, a quaint and popular village located on the shores of Loch Lomond and conveniently situated about 45 mins from Glasgow. Now a 'picture postcard' village but was originally constructed by the local landowner to house workers for the slate quarry nearby.

Here is one of the houses.

Inside of the church. We were fortunate with our timing as the church is usually locked and was opened up for a tour group. By Scottish standards the church is relatively young, being constructed in Victorian times, albeit on an ancient site.

Hogback grave markers. These are about 1100 years old and have Viking influences.

View of the beach with swans and Ben Lomond in the distance.

View of the pier.

Luss is great stop as you venture out of Glasgow on the way up north and/or west.
