Tour New Lanark

Sunday, February 10, 2008

This afternoon I am presenting some images of New Lanark which is a world Heritage Site centred on the 200 year old sandstone cotton mills built by Dave Dale.

The dramatic gorge of the River Clyde provided the water power for this early industrial complex which became renowned for the enlightened work force management of Dale's son-in-law, the social pioneer, Robert Owen.

A visit to the site takes a few hours with a range of places to see including a Wildlife Centre, the Falls of Clyde, Robert Owen School, Village Store, Millworkers' House, Robert Owen's House, Mill 2 and Mill Three.

This site is easily accessible from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

See this site with Catswhiskerstours.
