Private Tour Inverness Scotland
Monday, June 01, 2009
Today, our family group visited:
- Culloden Battlefield where occurred the last battle on British soil in April 1746. Here the Highland forces supporting the Jacobite cause under Bonnie Prince Charlie were heavily defeated to the extent the Jacobite cause never recovered. Excellent visitor information centre with re-enactment soldier.
- Clava Cairns-prehistoric burial cairns and stone circles located in a small grove not far from Culloden.
- Fort George-stunning 18th century British Military Fort which is still used by the British Army. Superb location in Moray Firth.
- Kilt shop in Inverness.
We benefited from brilliant sunshine.
Loch Ness and Isle of Skye tomorrow!
