Eastwood Ramblers Walk to Sorn Scotland
Sunday, July 13, 2008
It is settled on both sides of the River Ayr, and won several communities in bloom awards. A long time ago, agriculture and mining were the most important activities in the village. You can also see the Sorn Castle, which stands on The River Ayr. Dating from the 14th century, it has some connections with several Monarchs and had garrisoned troops.
We also walked through Catrine Village. Catrine was a thriving mill town for nearly 2 centuries. Today it is more of a residential area.
