Braveheart Wallace Monument Tour

Tuesday, July 01, 2008

This evening I am presenting some pictures of the Wallace Monument.

William Wallace (AKA "BRAVEHEART") was born in Elderslie. During the 1290s Scotland was under English control which led to resentment. Wallace became famous for rebellion in the south of England. In 1297, he was knighted and became Guardian of Scotland. But in 1302 Scotland failed against England and in 1305 Wallace is arrested, and executed on August 23rd.

You can have some beautiful views from the Wallace Monument. On the 2nd picture we can see the Stirling Castle.

This flower called "Foxglove" is quite common on the path up to the Monument.
